Swedish Massage

Swedish massage increases the circulation of blood and lymph fluids, relaxes the nervous system, reduces blood pressure, relieves muscle spasm and tension, and strengthens the immune system.

You will enjoy five main strokes in Swedish massage: effleurage: long gliding strokes that warm tissue and improve circulation; petrissage: a kneading stroke that helps to move toxins out of muscle bellies and surrounding structures; friction: direct pressure on the skin used to address specific deeper tissues, especially around the joints, improving blood flow to congested areas; tapotement: rapid alternating techniques such as tapping that help to warm muscles and loosen congestion; vibration, a continuous shaking or trembling movement applied with some pressure that increases blood flow to an area.

Swedish massage may vary in intensity from light to quite firm work, depending on the preference of the client. Swedish massage is usually performed with the client unclothed, covered by sheets and blankets, and lying on a comfortable massage table.
